Deformation measurement

Photogrammetry is an excellent choice for static deformation measurement and the only available approach in many applications.
Measurement procedure:

Tag object with self-adhesive markers
Take a few dozen to several hundred photos depending on the object complexity
Automatic evaluation
Deformation of the object, e.g. by force, temperature, radiation or humidity
Re-photographing
Automatic evaluation
Comparison of load conditions and individual reporting

Typical applications for photogrammetric deformation measurements are climate change tests (top figure) or the validation of FEM calculations (bottom figure).
